Two's: Annie Chapman (12)
A great turn out saw SdM enjoy another great St Georges day at Silves with the English team winning 8 ½ v 4 ½ with many prizes up for grabs. A big thank you to Lynn Cook for making and supplying our St Georges day cakes, for Nick and Dawn Mackinlay’ for preparing and serving at the halfway house with beef rolls and Pimms amongst other things and also to Dave Tweed for organising the day with his now famous leader board.

This month's Ladies Day saw a fantastic turn out of 27 (sadly one withdrawal) who all played in a Texas Scramble.
First place went to: Mags Taylor, Sandy Rumfitt, Andrea Shoonheim and Hannah McMahon. Runners up: Lynn Cook, Jules Heath, Gill Stephenson and Sheila Pike. Third: Wendy Emrich, Gillian Duplessis Yvonne Pyper and Hilary.
SdM played its third game away in the Interleague Thursday on the Championship course at Penina. SdM fielded two rookies in the names of Paul Spallin and Per Lars Tonstadt, who both gave credible performances with Paul and his Partner Steve Edwards winning 3 & 1 The other win was by Captain Gary and Peter Chapman won on the 18th. A special mention to Jose who plays for Penina and played against Bill Goodwin and Nick Mackinlay’ who was 2 under gross at the sixteen hole.
After the anti-climax last game of the 1st quarter's league table, when the positions could not be affected by the results, April got off to a good start with four matches - and some new names at the top.
Full details of the first quarter league is available to all on request (and will be circulated to Matchplay men shortly). 1st place went to the "man with the pen" (Dave Tweed), 2nd to Peter Chapman and 3rd to Chris Nickels - who won €50, €30 & €20 respectively. Main interest to the others is that there is €46 left over from the first quarter entry fees that will go towards our Christmas Party fund!
On Thursday 3rd April numbers were slightly down with just 14 players, as 4 of the regulars were playing a Club Knockout game. This quarter will be affected by several MMM regulars being selected for Interleague Matches (hopefully!), so only the best 5 scores from the 13 weeks will count towards the final league table instead of 7 between January and March, which should give all members the opportunity of winning the 2nd quarter spoils. The Captain and Secretary were both present at the Italia Restuarant in Ferragudo recently for the presentation of a cheque for €250, continuing their generous sponsorship. The cost will help with the purchase of club shirts which are available via the Captain or management committee members. The Italia logo will continue to appear on the sleeve.
Owners Rafa and Enza Salmone were also kind enough to present the club with discount vouchers which are currently with Dave Tweed and will be presented as prizes in club competitions.
A fine day on Saturday saw another fabulous turn out by SdM members in support of the ever popular St Patrick's Day. Played on the evergreen turf at Silves the players were ideally camouflaged with their emerald green costumes! Once again there was the ever popular halfway house providing ham cobbs and Guiness ablly served by Sue and Rosemary.
