After the fantastic home win last month SdM came back down to earth with a bang losing 5-0 to QdL on the magnificent newly improved North Course. The tough greens proved the undoing of our team. Tee to green most matches were very even but the local knowledge on the very undulating putting surfaces proved vital.
Congratulations to QdL Lady Captain who had a hole in one (her 4th) on the eighth.

Our ladies played the last game of the VACS trophy at Vale de Pinta today. We had a 13 point lead before play started toda,y with Carvoeiro Club and Vila Sol only one point apart. Today Carvoeiro Club had 163pts. SDM 161 Vila Sol 142 and Alto 139.
SdM made a fantastic start to their 2015 season with a resounding 5-0 victory against the visitors from the Benemor course in Tavira.
Despite the cold, wind and for much of the round rain, our players displayed some incredible skills. All the pairings won comfortably, although the final pair of Club Captain Ray Groves and Chris Price had to come from 3 down to record a 3&2 victory.
A beautiful Spring morning greeted the players at Vila Sol for the 4th round of the Fermon Trophy. The Vila Sol team took full advantage of their local knowledge and scored a magnificent 203 points on the day - an average of over 40 per pairing - despite some challenging pin positions. Carvoeiro G&CC were second with 190 points with SDM finishing third with 183 three points ahead of Alto.
SDM did have some success with a new pairing of Gwynne Jones and Euan Pyper recording an excellent 44 points - equal top score on the day. Other scores from the SDM team were Peter & Marja Chapman - 39, Colin & Lynn Hynd - 34, Ray & Eileen Groves 34, Judi Murphy & Stuart Deans 32 and Stu & Maz McGill 32.

It is with sadness that we said goodbye this week to two long standing members of Serra de Monchique. Nick and Dawn Mackinlay have decided to move back to the UK. Nick was Club Captain in 2011 and with Dawn they supplied the halfway house for every SdM event for the past few years.

Some of our members will be aware whilst our Captain is on his holidays in South Africa he has been on a strict diet.
We have received some information that may well bring this into doubt..................
