Our first Silves Charity Day, it clearly was not about winners but about trying to help a young lady in need of urgent medical treatment. However it was a fantastic day when the two Silves based clubs came together in aid of Monica, the daughter of Fatima our bar manager. Apart from the funds raised a great fun day was had by all with good food supplied by Osvaldo and his team. Lively music from J.J Johns and not least an entertaining Auction performed by Simon Arnes who managed to squeeze every last cent out of the bidders. Rob Cheney also helped boost the fund with his beat the Pro event on the 16th Hole as did Patrick Ferreira on the 4th hole, both did a great job.

On another fine day SdM recorded their second home win in two matches against a strong Laranjal team.
Running out 4-1 winners to go along with our 5-0 result in our first home match shows the advantage of playing at home.
Good wins for Gary & Gill Edwards and Steve Edwards & Judi Murphy, whilst Bill Goodwin birdied 18 to give him and partner Arthur Greenwood a fine victory.

Congratulations to Maz McGill and Andy Richardson, this year's winners of the Spring Cup
All the scores can be seen here.
Thanks to our Competition Secretary Lynn Cook for organising this 2 day event.

It was a warm day, but some cool sangria at the halfway house served with some lovely tapas kept us going.

Many of you were at Taste Restaurant last night for the prize giving dinner, but if you weren't, I can tell you missed a great evening.
We were welcomed by Ciprian and Nicola with a glass of bubbly, had a very nice couvert followed by a fantastic steak (and great fish for the non-carnivores) cooked by our own Jimmy Cruz with plenty of good wine to go with it.
Saturday saw another memorable Orange day in our calendar.
The annual Dutch Day celebration was fantastically supported by our members as well as some of our green keepers!
Overall winners on the day with 46 points were Malcolm Marshall and Ken Shelton with the runners up Geoff Cox and Arthur Greenwood only one point behind.
The organisers: Marja Chapman, Paula Luijt and help on the day from Andrea Schoonheim would like to thank all those who made it such a successful day.
A very commendable result this week for our interleague team, travelling to Tavira, a notoriously difficult venue, we achieved a halved match. All the games were tight, indeed there were three halved games, the other two finished with only one hole difference.
SdM have now moved to second place in the division after three matches.

Monday the 20th April saw the final round of the of the 2014/15 Fermon Trophy played at Vale da Pinta. The Vila Sol team took a significant 12 point advantage over Carvoeiro Golf & Country Club into this last of the 5 round contest. SDM and Alto were pretty much out of the battle for the cup but were facing their own sub contest in the fight to avoid the wooden spoon - at the start of the round SDM held a slender 3 point advantage!! However thanks to a fantastic performance by Mick Girling and Sandy Rumfitt who amassed a day's best 49 points the last place was never really a likelihood. Chris Nickels and Malcolm Cooke also returned a creditable 39 points. Other SDM team scores were Peter & Marja Chapman (37), Steve Edwards & Ulla Bischoff (35), Stu Deans & Judi Murphy (29) and Stu & Maz McGill (29)
The team scores on the day reflected the standings in the table with Vila Sol maintaining their fine form to record 199 points from their 5 scoring pairs. Carvoeiro were second with 193, SDM managed a score of 189 and Alto brought up the rear with 184. So Vila Sol held on the claim their first ever Fermon Trophy.
